Help me decide my next hike

Hi all, I am planning a 2 - 3 day trip to the Arkansas wilderness. I have been to the Richland Creek wilderness on 4 different occasions and have explored much of it. I am now ready to find a new place to explore. Besides the great scenery, Richland Creek is very remote and isolated. I usually go with a friend or two and we usually don't see many people there... just a bear once and a few snakes! So, I'd like to find a new place to explore that is remote and not overcrowded. It also must allow camping anywhere in the Wilderness area, not just the "campground", as I like to hike in a couple of miles and find my own spot for the night. Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!

TnFrontier I want to hike the lower Buffalo wilderness. My plan is to get one of the trout guide services on the White around Buffalo City drop me off next to the river and bushwhack to my truck on the top side. Feel free to use that idea. Boen Gulf and the Upper Buffalo area is much like Richland creek in that they are isolated and do not see much usage. If it is warm or the upper river is low the hike from Dixon ford near Fallsville to the Boxley bridge is a great hike with alot to explore. You have to cross the river several times so watch the river levels. Hurricane creek is also a great area. It is IMHO the most used section of the OHT. Beautiful place though.

If you're traveling all the way over to Richland Creek, then traveling to the Buffalo River Area would be even closer to you. 150 miles of river and many miles of trail all over the place. Some of the best scenery in Arkansas, IMO.

Also, the Lower Buffalo River Wilderness Area and the Leatherwood Wilderness Area are right around there. Both are very isolated.

As far as I know, you can camp anywhere you want in those areas. About the only camping restriction you'll ever find in any Arkansas wilderness is a fire ban during really dry times of the year. Of course, LNT always applies.
