Got my NeoAir!

Got my NeoAir!
Got home this evening and my new Thermarest NeoAir was here. I ordered the Regular size. It's a full length, 72 inch, air mattress with an insulation R value of 2.5. I weighed it on my digital scale and it weighed in at 13.75 oz. It rolls up to about the size of a 1-liter Nalgene bottle.
The only negative that I can potentially see with this pad is that it may not work as the frame in my ULA Conduit backpack, without leaving it partially aired up. This may decrease the capacity of my pack too much. I'll have to try it out and see. If it doesn't work that way, then I will cut a piece of closed-cell foam pad to fit my pack.
I did air it up and lay on it and it felt great. You definitely don't want it to be fully inflated, as it is too hard. So I will have to play around with it to get it dialed in to the right inflation.
Can't wait to try it out on an overnight.

Sounds great! I have had good luck with my windshield reflector as a frame in my pack, it weighs next to nothing, and helps with a little insulation whem you need it. I am glad that it works for you, how wide is it? If it is wide enough, it may be good in double layered hammock

Dooohh, not wide enough. My shoulders would freeze. I will just stick with my underquilt, super comfy, and super warm! For pads though, it sounds awesome. Congrats.

That's the standard width of almost all pads. If you have used a pad in your hammock before, then, chances are, the pad you used was 20 inches wide.

Re: Got my NeoAir!
The pad I use to use in my hammock was 40" that I folded in half to fit in my pack. It was really light, but wayto bulky. That is why I use my underquilt now

Whenever you want. Just give me a call.
PM:
While the NeoAir has a R 2.5 insulation factor, I don't think it would be something that I would want to use in conjunction with a hammock. Your underquilt would probably give you much more insulation.
Was the pad that you described 40" wide? That's huge for a sleeping pad.

Re: Got my NeoAir!
I know 40" is huge, but I ordered the foam myself and then cut it to the size I wanted. I have 2 of them in my garage, bulky things

Re: Got my NeoAir!
OK. I thought you were talking about a 40" wide Thermarest or something like that. Hadn't seen those. Homemade makes sense.
