Tarp and Hammock Clinic
Wanted to throw out a couple of dates for a tarp and hammock clinic and see what everyone thinks. The first Saturday that I have available is August 16. The next Saturday available is August 30. Either one of these will work for me. Just let me know. We could do it later, but I was afraid that if we wait too long, then we start getting into backpacking weather and it may be harder to pull people out of the woods for a clinic.
As far as location goes, since we have people from all directions coming, what does everyone think of having the clinic at Toad Suck Park in Conway? There would be plenty of space to set up one or more tarps and plenty of trees to hang hammocks from. I also need to hear from Preacha Man and willky to see what their schedules are like.
As Jay said, this board is a quasi-democracy, so let me know what everyone thinks.

I'd like to attend this too, and as of right now I don't have anything planned for either date.
Let's see if I can make it this time!

As of right now those dates are fine, I may need to be in Miami, Fl on the 20th, but I will see what Amanda and I work out. I will also try to have her make some tarps up for it as well. Sounds great, I have never been to Toad Suck

Hey UL... Preacha... Wilky... was told to ask you guys a question. I am involved with a hiking group here in memphis and as a asst. org. we were wondering if you guys would mind opening it up to our group over here. I, for the life of me can not imagine it being more than 5 or 6, if that many. I would appreciate it but also understand if you would like to keep it for just us here on the board... oh and was told to tell you guys that we got Babes.. hahahahah

Re: Tarp and Hammock Clinic
ulhiker,
I sure wish I could come over that way but with the price of diesel at localy $4.70 a gal. we just can't go anywere. I would like to though this out for future reference. The park that the wife and I live in, Horshoebend park, a Corps of Eng. park has plenty of room. A pavilion and lots of trees. This park sees little camping pressure except around major holidays and during the gun deer hunt. I would be glad to post pics in the future if there is interest in this idea. Also if we have a get together over here you are aprox. 30 mins. drive from Caney Creek or the Eagle Rock Loop areas. By the way I believe that I could get special rates on camping. Any way just a thought for yall to ponder over.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. John Muir

eddie:
Since this is a democratic site, I guess we would all have to vote on it, but I don't see any problem with your group joining in. But that is just my two cents worth.
Ouachita:
Man, I know what you mean about the gas and diesel prices. Your park sounds nice. I know Jay lives down in your neck of the woods and he's planning on coming, maybe you guys could car-pool or something. The only reason I suggested Toad Suck Park is that it seems to be centrally located for everyone.

Preacha:
I am anxious to see your Hennessy's. I have heard great things about them so I want to actually see one on use for sure. That would be awesome!
Eddie:
I am with UL. I would have no problem with them coming at all. They may have some good input as well. Since this is a democracy forum, count my vote as a "Yea."

about myself coming!

All the above sounds good to me. UL let me know what I need to do to help. I can bring the Big tarp for shade if needed.

Lew:
Go ahead and bring your big tarp, just in case we need it for rain or shade.
So, if everyone is in agreement, let's go ahead and plan on Saturday, August 16. If it will give everyone time to get to Toad Suck Park, why don't we plan on 2:00 in the afternoon.
Let me know what everyone thinks of that,
