Shady Lake
Just to pass on this info:
Much talk has been going on lately about the drawing down of Shady Lake. I had talked to
Sharon Hose at the Mena office of the FS earlier this year about the drawing down of the lake.
She had told me that every winter they draw it down and clean it out. The only thing is that
it has refilled about four times this winter! Any way Mark Adams had called me about it and he
ended up calling the FS and they told him that the gates were closed today on the dam and
at least two loops are open to camping.

Re: Shady Lake
The FS must do that to a lot of their lakes. I drove past Lake Sylvia last week and it looked like they had drawn it down and were letting it fill back up in anticipation of opening the campground back up. I think they do it to help get some of the sediment out so they don't fill in eventually.

Re: Shady Lake
Mark,
Last year I asked Sharon at Mena why they did that and she said to clean it out. She
mentioned the leaves.
