Explore Arkansas- Rollin on the river
I was reading the Arkansas Democrat-Gazzette today and flipped open Explore Arkansas to the Rollin on the River article and saw two guys and a dog surfing a raft. The guy with the gold helmet is Cowper (pronounce Cooper) , the guy in the green and yellow helmet is me, Dave Holthus, and the dog is Gooch. That picture brought back some good memories of my time spent hiking paddling and generally enjoying the outdoors with my friends. Gooch is in doggie heaven now.

Re: Explore Arkansas- Rollin on the river
I am in the planning stages for a multi day river trip later in the fall or winter.
So far, I have narrowed it down to the Bogue Chitto (95 miles) in South Mississippi or 100 miles of the Mississippi River between Clarksdale and Greenville. Given the time of year and the amount of time I have, I am really looking more for a "flatwater" type of trip. We plan to take it easy, paddle, camp, eat and enjoy the trip.
Any suggestions for Arkansas?

Lower Buffy...buffalo.. into and maybe part of the White.
Current river up in south MO
Several sections of the Ouachita
Red in the Texarkana to Shreveport areas
Arkansas Canoe club message board would be a help in this kind of question
