Ozark Highlands Trail Maps Updated

Ozark Highlands Trail Maps Updated

The 17 map set of the Ozark Highlands Trail has been updated and Google Earth images for the entire trail have been added (go to http://www.ouachitamaps.com/OHT.html
). I found some more sections that I had tracked over the last few years and we covered the 40 mile section between Ozone and Fairview in March 2008.

In addition, I came across Eric Strong’s GPS tracks from his 2004 through-hike and with his permission, used it to correct some of my map and compass errors. Though the new Lake Fort Smith section of the trail is now complete, but I don’t have that mapped yet.

As far as I know, this is the only map of the OHT available based on USGS 7.5 minute quads, and it’s free for you to download and print. Hope you find these useful.

I own four of his maps. The two for ERL, the one for Butterfield, and the one for White Rock - Shores Lake Loop. They are top quality. I would recommend these to anyone.

Charlie's based out of Tulsa, OK and works part-time at Backwoods, a great little outdoor store there in Tulsa. They also have stores in other cities. I've been to the one in Tulsa several times, but have never had an opportunity to meet Charlie in person. I, too, have some of his maps.

I wanted to thank Colt for the invitation and posting the update notice. I saw a post on Backpacker's forum late last year but never made it over here to check it out. Looks like a great forum with some familiar names.

For clarity, I don't work for Backwoods. They are just kind enough to let me sell my maps at their store. It works well for them because I turn around and buy twice that amount in hiking gear:) The company I work for operates a unique reforetation and sustainable development project in Africa and India (tist.org).

No thanks needed, Charlie.

Keep me posted of updates to your maps, and I will post them here for all to see.

Chas:
My mistake. I really thought that they had told me you worked there some.
At any rate, welcome to the board.

Hey Charlie,

Welcome to the site! I've had a link to your site posted on the homepage here forever, but I guess I never had the wherewithal to invite ya personally! Sorry about that buddy!

Anyway, again, welcome to AB!
