HIKER WARNING: Hunting Season is Here
Just a reminder: Muzzleloader Season opens this Saturday all across the state. Archery has been open since the 1st of October. Some safety reminders if you're going to be hiking in or around hunting zones:
Wear bright clothing.
Set camp well before sundown and stay put until well after daylight.
Whistle, hum, talk, or make some other human noise as you hike. (You don't have to be loud about it.)
Don't wear antlers on your head.
Whether you're hunting or hiking, let's watch out for each other out there, okay?
Be safe everyone.
Jay

As Tim Ernest says you are safer in the woods during hunting season than any city or town!

I'm with you, OH. I hike a lot during hunting season, when I'm not out there hunting. The only part that I don't like is having to leave the hat with horns at home. LOL!

Most of the time hunters won't venture far from the ATV, most of the time I am well out of their space.

Re: HIKER WARNING: Hunting Season is Here
I've never had any kind of run-in or close call when doing either thing (That is, I've never shot at a hiker while hunting and I've never been shot at while hiking.)
I lost a good friend in a hunting accident years ago so I always remind folks that it can happen.
So just leave that antler hat at home UL!

There was a lady killed by a bear hunter in Wa. State in the last couple of months. She was on a marked trail in daylight.
Wear your orange just as a hunter would during deer season. Skimping a few ounces could get you killed.
