Buying Maps???

Post by Jeff on Sat Oct 31, 2009 9:09 am

Anyone know where you can purchase trail maps locally? If not who do you recommend to order from? I need to start a collection so I can plan some trips.

Thanks
Jeff

If you want topo maps, get the Trails Illustrated maps for upper and lower buffalo area. If you want an actual trail guide, the standard is Tim Ernst' book "Buffalo River Hiking Trails" and I think he has another one called "Arkansas hiking trails" and a few more devoted to specific trails like the OT. You can order the trails illustrated maps off of his website as well.

Try ouachitamaps.com this is Charlie Williams site. What is so neat is most of his maps are available to download for FREE! Or you can order them direct from him. He has most of the Arkansas trails covered. He has a good discription of the ERL with trip milages, both ways, posted. This site is a must see for anyone thinking about any trails. And as mentioned Tim Ernest's site.

Hope this helps!
