Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Greetings AB'ers,
I've organized a 3-day group hike of the Eagle Rock Loop on March 5-7 2010. So far we have about 5 people and and would like to have a few more who would like to have a great time on this awesome trail. If anyone here is interested just leave a post here or send a message to trailrelic.
I promise a great time will be had by all.

Mark,
I would love to go but I have a concert assesment contest the next week so I can't afford to take any time off between now and then. I plan on trying it some time about two weeks later, I hope..

I would love to, But I would have to stage my truck where ever you plan on stopping on Saturday so I can get back to preach. If that is not possible, then if you let me know what direction you are going, I will park my truck, and then Hike to you on Thursday, and hike to the truck on Friday.

P.. there are access roads all over the place. If he tells us his itinerary I can get you to where you need to be for getting home in time. Another idea is to start early and catch up with us and finish a day early.

I am still working this out with Amanda, but either which way you talked about would be fine. It is no problem for me to get there on Thursday and get more hiking in too.
Mark, what is your itinerary? I can work around it.

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Wow,
Thanks for all the interest. Here's the plan and this is still negotiable if we need to. Thursday night camp at Albert Pike. Friday start at the north end of Little Missouri Trail at the junction with ABF. Hike clockwise and spend Friday night somewhere near AP. Saturday try to make it 1 hill past the junction of ABF and FR106. Preacha, your vehicle could be there. Sunday hike up ABF to our vehicles. That's 11,11 and 5.
Piece of cake,right?
I am open to other suggestions if tou have them.
Thanks again,
Mark

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
If thats the case, I can park my truck Thursday and meet up with yall that night at Albert Pike. That way I can still do the whole loop, and have fun with you all too

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
I'd be driving in late Thursday night (10-11pm) after work. I'm feeling a sick day coming on for that Friday (cough cough)...

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Mark.. have you done the ERL before? Just wondering.. from the Upper Falls area its about 12 miles to the flat part of the winding stairs area.. the pine woods.. Very doable if your up early. I know me P and Red are early risers. From there its about 11 miles to the Leader Mt. Walk in area, another great camp site but some hard climbs. From there you can be finished early Sunday morning.. its only like 5 miles from there to the parking area. P, on the back side you would most surely have to park there at the bottom of Brush Heap Mt. Its about the only road from that point that has a parking area. But the way you hike you could actually finish the trail that night.. uh u going to have Burrito with you?

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
I've done the trail in bits and pieces but I haven't done it in one shot before. The planned campsite for day 1 is near the winding stair trailhead. That should be about 11 miles. There's 4 hills between FR106 and the LMR junction. Is Leader Mtn after 1 hill or 2?

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Uh leader mt... is number 4, the campsite is after that. Good place to camp, LARGE flat spot plenty of water, and is great place to stop as the next climb is Mt. McKinney. Thats the OTHER bad one. The closer you can get into the Winding Stairs the closer it puts you to Leader Mt as thats 3 hell of a good climbs for one day.
