Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Mark.. the A and B loops are always closed during the Winter months.. The campsites right on the side of the road (I forget if thats C or not) they are usually open. But The RV campground and restrooms are always open.

That's what I mean. The campsites at loop C right on the side of the road are no longer there. The whole area has been cleared and there is equipment and stakes everywhere. That restroom is also closed. There are no tent sites open.
I will try to get there early and get an RV site and we'll plan on meeting at 8AM at the RV restrooms near remote parking.

Campsite
Hey just thought I would throw my .02 cents in. I was up there for the loop in December and instead of camping in a rv spot we drove just a little past the big parking lot next to leader mountain walk in. If you keep driving and take the next right onto a dirt road and then take your next right you come to after that there is a nice open camping area. Couple of advantages.....no fees and a little more secluded. Sorry for the vague directions but it's very easy to find and isn't more than maybe a mile or 2 from the parking lot.

Jethro.. yeah its all kinds of campsites off the side of the road, with the best ones being up by Crooked Creek.. Trail thats to bad about all that being cleared. Hope like hell they are not expanding the RV sites down to there. Thats some of the better sites.. or it WAS lol. Don't know but normally they will say something for being a tent in a RV site. But middle of the week they may not. Will just have to see. What time you planning on being there by? I know my cell phone and many others will NOT get out from there.

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
I have fully recieved permission to go!!!! I just need to figure where to park my truck Thursday so that we can hike to it Saturday. I also need to now where we are starting so I know where to sleep Thursday night. I have been thinking about taking my 6 year old son with me, but I don't think I want to slow the group down that much. He is a strong hiker for 6, but that is a lot of water crossings for him.
Oh well, tell me where to park and hike to, and I will see yall next Friday morning
p.s. My truck will be by the trail on Saturday if anyone wanted to stash something there for Saturday night, Sunday morning.

P the only place I can see to park will be on 106. That will be 2 good climbs and the ONLY place to leave a car until you get up to the Upper Falls Trail head.

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
Let's review. Our goal for Friday night's camp is the spot on your left as you walk in from Winding Stair Trailhead. If it is too late or we are too spent when we get to Albert Pike we may stay there. In that case we will head for WS trailhead as early as possible. We do not plan on going further than that trailhead on Friday.
I show Red,Tenn, and Preacha meeting us Friday am at the remote parking lot. I have AR meeting us at the upper falls trailhead. And I have TM,East, and Lew meeting us at Winding Stair Trailhead.
Raise your hand if you are confused.

Re: Eagle Rock Loop Group Hike
trail.. I have a guy here in my group that will be coming up Thursday and will meet you in the campground. I will get you more info around Monday but he is a great guy and strong backpacker. I have hiked with him before and hes legit lol. I will be out on a trail with him Sat and will talk with him more then.. How many will be in your group that your bringing... Oh and dont forget eaststingray.. he will be meeting up at the Winding Stairs TH as well.
P.. your correct but if your getting there Thursday then not to worry about finding the parking for your truck. These guys will know where the trail crosses. But you will have to stage it early as its a pretty good little drive from AP to the parking area and then up to the upper falls parking lot. 106 comes right out of Albert Pike.
