BFC Score Updates Coming Soon!

Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:16 pm by Jay

Hey gang!

I'm glad to hear that everyone is okay after the nasty weather. Whew, that was close!

I've been very busy and haven't had much time on here lately. I'll be updating the BFC scores (and adding some of my own mileage. Yay!) and generally trying to get caught up around here!

See you all soon!

Frustration Mucho!

Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:39 pm by Jay

Good grief I'm frustrated! Mad

I finally got things worked out with our host and the site should be back up under it's original domain name soon. All this waiting for a simple $23 transaction that wouldn't go through because someone was on vacation or something and no one else knew how to press the darn button I guess. You guys should've seen the nastygram I wrote to these people. If there's one thing I just can't tolerate, it's poorly handled customer service.

Anyway, I'll send out another email when I get confirmation that every...

Forum Access

Fri Mar 27, 2009 3:04 pm by Jay

Hey gang, I'm currently trying to renew our domain name here, but I'm having trouble getting a hold of the people I need to talk to. There shouldn't be any problems, but just in case you can't access the site in the next day or so, don't worry; we'll be right back up.

FYI.

Hope you're all doing well!

BFC 2009 Current Score

Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:00 pm by Jay

I'll design a fancy scoreboard one of these days, but for now I thought you guys might want to know which team is in the lead:

Intrepid Explorers: 192.5 Total Miles / 75 Overnight backpacking Miles

Trail Stompers: 186.5 Total Miles / 115.5 Overnight Backpacking Miles

As of right now, the Intrepids are ahead, but the Stompers are vying for the backpacking perk come April 1st!

NOTE: I decided to reduce the multiplication factor for trail maintenance to 2 instead of 3. I certainly don't mean to punish the t...

Want to Join the Challenge?

Wed Jan 28, 2009 6:38 pm by Jay

I know there are some folks who want to join the Backcountry Challenge, and that's great! If you would like to join in but haven't posted about it yet, please let me know and I'll add you. (That goes for you NEW MEMBERS to the forum!)

We're going to keep it fair and simple by randomly assigning newcomers to a team and they will start accruing mileage from there forward--they can't claim any previous mileage. Couples will stay together. Please go HERE to read the rules and then get out there and start hiking for your team!

Attention Paddlers!

Fri Jan 23, 2009 6:04 pm by Jay

If you canoe or kayak anywhere around Arkansas, and if you care for our natural environment, you NEED to check out an event scheduled for April 26th, 2009. It's called PADDLE 4 THE PLANET.

It's being organized by my favorite Hot Springs outfitter, Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters, and is being sponsored by The North Face and Patagonia. It is a non-profit event designed promote environmental awareness.

And the best part is, it costs almost nothing to take part. (Seriously, like, burger-and-fries cheap.) And if you register before April 1...
